Importance of Sticking to Service Intervals
Hoping to take a look at a 2.0 TS at some point over the weekend. Looks very tidy on the add and the dealer has helpfully posted the full service history details. Which has raised a question for me...
I understand the service intervals for the TS are 12k miles/1 year - whichever comes soonest. Looking back over the history, although servicing has been carried out, there are some rather large gaps. First service seems to have been duly done after 12 months, when the car had only done 7k miles but the next one then wasn't until 20 months and 17k miles later (presumably a different owner by this point). There's then another gap of 17 months and over 23k miles! Must have changed owners again because the remainder have been done annually and at slightly lower mileages (15/16k), including cambelt and variator at 63k.
So, what I'm wondering is:
A. Does this point to a car that maybe hasn't been loved as much as others and might be best avoided?
B. Or does it not really matter - the previous owner got round to servicing it eventually so the work has been done, particularly during the car's more recent history?
Just thought it would be interesting to get some opinions from those in the know. Hoping it's B cos it looks great and is my ideal colour combo - which doesn't seem to come up often!
