After a year's happy and largely trouble-free Spidering, she will have to go. The reason is that the Spider has become the de facto family car since my wife swapped her saloon for a camper-van, and this is problematic as
- it's only got 2 seats
- my wife only has an automatic licence, and wants to be able to drive "my" car!
Unfortunately, I can't afford to run the Spider and another car.
Its a 1999 P2 Lusso, under 65k miles and in great condition apart from one recent tiny niggle that ProAlfa are about to try to fix: whilst it starts first time, it spends the first 10-15 seconds pretending it's not going to, on about 200 rpm, before going up to normal rpm. Obviously, I don't want a buyer to have to put up with that so that's why its not officially up for sale yet. The clutch thrust washer is also slightly noisy when the clutch is depressed, but I've been assured by 2 different mechanics that this isn't a problem. Other than that, everything works as it should, and there are none of the normal Alfa niggles. I even had the air-bag taken out and the contacts cleaned so the light stays off! The car is very original, the only non-Alfa parts are the strut brace, the stereo (original included too) and a Cat 1 alarm. All recent work has been done by either Veloces or ProAlfa.
Just before I bought it the previous owner had spent £3000 with Veloces having everything that you could think of done, including cambelts, variator, hood motor, suspension etc. I've spent about a further £1000, including servicing, spring-pans, new Sony stereo with proper iPod connector, front strut-brace, new rear window. Will make a full list when I advertise it.
I will be looking for around £3300. PM me if interested, although it probably won't be for sale for a week. It will then go on classified here and Pistonheads.
