Engine cut out - possibly MAF.???

Engine cut out this morning pulling onto the motorway slip road.
Foot down fairly hard as pulled on to the slip road then nothing - just cut out. Pulled to hard shoulder and tried to start it fired for a second then cut out each time 7 or 8 attempts.

I disconnected the MAF and it started instantly although the engine management light is now on and is running without MAF.

Would this definately be MAF or am I just lucky at the fact that I unplugged it and the car started.?

Didn't think it would prevent the car from running?

Also will it harm the engine to run without it?

Cheers all

Most likely the MAF at fault .
Running the car without it should only harm your fuel consumption.

Have to get it changed i think. Car wont start with it connected but will without. Can surwly only be the MAF thats causing it.

As long as it doesnt do any damage without for a few days thats ok

I got an original Bosch MAF it was great. Doesnt cost that much. Less than you quoted. I got mine sent from UK to Australia and it was only 150 GBP equvalent to Aussie dollars. Found it on Ebay somewhere

Have a look here - not sure if these apply to the 3.0v6 but worth a look

Also would rather use origional Bosche yes. But have heard good things about the Pierburg ones from people saying they last longer
