Are they really needed? Plastics.

Just wondering if these two things are really needed, and if there's any particular danger without them.

The plastic covers on either side of the engine bay - the ones that cover the washer bottle etc... mine have seen better days and had them off yesterday whilst fitting a new washer bottle. Need them or useless weight?

The wheel arch covers at the front on either side. I've had mine removed because they were in bad condition and causing friction on the tyre and/or hitting the driveshaft. So nearside front now has the gearbox visible and offside front now has the belt visible. I'm guessing if one's more important than the other it'll be the offside one to stop any stones etc getting in. But are they really necessary? Or useless weight again?

They are quite hard to find (in good condition) and at 40+ a pop, not cheap either.

The belt side will leave adjusters and belt exposed to the elements and shorten their life, IMO so id say wheel arch are necessary. As for engine bay, purely cosmetic IMO!

You really do need them, especially wheel arch liners. Give Autolusso a call, they must have loads!

If you have a V6 then yes they are needed. During the hot weather mine were off for couple of weeks (misplaced but I've got a new set now) and this caused the injector light to come on from time to time and the engine feel like it was only firing on four cylinders. As soon as I replaced them it was fine. There are a lot of engine electrics under there so I presume the extra heat without the covers was affecting them.

air intake is below n/s headlight, so this won't happen.

Also looks much better with them on. Hides all the electrics and relays etc...
