I don't know what to think anymore...
My engine does tack tack tack tack, sound seems to come from the top.
I have in the past 2 months done the following:
new inlet camshaft
new crank shell
new hydraulic lifter
flush engine twice
now running on 10w60
new exhaust manifold bracket
new spark plug
run on 95 then 98
The only obvious result is that when the engine idle the tack tack is quieter.
But on acceleration from 1000 to 2500 rpm quite loud.
My mechanic had a good look at the crank and he assure me that it was fine. The old shell were tired but not damage.
I did a compression test, C1,2 & 4 are 170, C3 at 145. Wet compression it came up to 160.
The car runs well, I push it on a regular basis to 6000 rpm. Down here I can't really drive fast but once in a while I get to 170 km/h. The engine is responsive.
I have driven the car about 6000 km.
The cost of all that is one thing, but not getting this sound to go is getting on my system.
Now my mechanic is saying that the oil pump could be at fault. I have done some reading on this forum, seems like the pump is rarely giving problem.
So what now? 10w 40?
Could it be the belt tensioner?
Faulty new variator?
Please help me ?
