Its horses for courses and courses for horses.
The V6 isn't blinding quick, but it is enjoyably quick and has a very charasmatic soundtrack when your driving it. It feels and sounds like a sportscar should.
Everyone who goes in my car loves the experience and its a car to be enjoyed on country roads with the exhaust sound reflecting off the stone walls. Its an alround enjoyable event.
The front wheel drive thing is an issue, not to some, more of a "top gear" discrimination to others. Generally normal people don't tailslide round corners day to day so for fast road driving the front wheel drive thing is more of a theoretical problem.
The thing is most hot hatches would give a old 911, 944 turbo, celica GT4 or any slightly older sports car a good run for their money. Doesn't stop me wanting any of those before a Seat or any other hot hatch.
As a day to day car it isn't terribly comfortable, cheap or practical and its best suited to a DIY enthusiast as they have their faults. If you want 0-60 buy an evo or an impreza.
But if you have 3k burning a hole and you want a car that sounds an looks the ****, is quicker than most cars on the road and adds interest to your life the GTV is it.
My memory of my mates twin are good, very enjoyable, I just think the V6 has the occasion that outways all of its many faults.
