Can't believe the time!!! Yesterday myself and a good mate did a trek across the country picking up bits i had bought on ebay over the last fortnight, first off was a trek to Birmingham to get a MINT condition Momo red leather interior, The guy was soo nice that he even threw in the carpet and gaiters plus the centre console - even though i don't need the console!
Started off with the wheels, managed to get 20 x wobble bolts from a local shop at £40
Fitted the wheels and voila! Bloody good! They're Bellini Bella GTR's 18 x 7.5, i know some will say 18's are a bit large, i got the cheap so i thought bugger it!!!
Took it out for a quick spin and was impressed at the difference, pulling away has lost about 1 second in speed but the handling feels much better in the corners due to the low profile 45mm tyres, plus it seems to roll if you coast the gears unlike before with the standard 15's on there so it's more beneficial for my commute.
Once i got back, i gave my friend a bell, told him to come over as we made some fresh pizza and got the JD & Coke on tap!
We started to begin with stripping the interior, it was simpler than i first thought, the carpet was the annoying part! after that, in went the back seats although we did an old trick first, cleaned up the interior with a bar of pure italian hand soap, it works wonders and softens the leather without leaving a greasy shine, so we did that, popped in the rears, started to fall in love.........
in went the carpet, what an absolute ***** to fit! The interior was from a PH1 although my alfa is a PH2 so i had to cut out a hole for the Airbag keyswitch, plus joining the carpet up to the centre console and modding the middle so the centre console would stick on top and allow the hex bolts to fit, after 2 hours work, it was in!
What a bloody good difference from the grey!
In went the seats and sat down, we almost had a sex wee it felt soo good to sit down on some firm comfortable seats, i meen don't get me wrong, the cloth interior is fantastic but it doesn't give you a margin to slide about!
The car is now fully completed inside, So if anyone wishes to fit a PH1 carpet in a PH2 it's a doddle, and i guess it would be vice - versa!
I'll upload some pics in the morning! I didn't know if the car would look good being the Metallic variety red but it's really come out well!!!
Now i just need to do a few extra mods like adding the front strut brace !
If anyone's interested in the interior let me know, the carpet will be cleaned and the seats are spot on, no rips or tears!
Also have the other guys PH1 centre console with clocks and switches, my original 15x6 steel rims with hub caps
