Yep totally agree...
Well, picked it up yesterday and drove it back the 250 miles home.. On the whole its pretty dman good, but there is definitely some work to be done... which I could do with some advice on...
when accellerating there is definitely a pronounced pull to the right, which I'm guessing could be due to the play in the ball joint which he mentioned, combined with this there is a whurring sound, would this be the bearing?
Pulling to the right could be due to several reasons, if
the ball joint is worn (check by jacking up one corner and gripping the tyre top and btm, tug the wheel back and forth and feel for play, then grip tyre front and rear and do the same, then do the same on the other front wheel) it will need replacement (you have to replace the entire wishbone) so do both sides at the same time, they arent expensive if you use pattern parts, Ebay £70 a pair for reasonable quality, its a job best done by a garage cos its a struggle on the driveway but u dont need a specialist, i paid a local garage £30 a side to fit mine.
I tried several remedies to stop my 2.0 TS pulling to the right but it wasnt until i got it properly 4 wheel tracked that it went away completely.
Then you need to get the car 4 wheel
tracked, the rear wheels have adjustable tie rods, these will need adjusting as well as the fronts, if you take it to quack fit they wont understand and they will just do the fronts, this will not
solve your prob, i cannot stress enough that your car needs to be 4 wheel tracked.
The whurring is probably the wheel bearing as you suggested.
