Hard to start 2.0 TS
I'm having some issues with my car. Just put it back together after a re-build. It's running sweet as a nut in terms of idle and revs smoothly. I'm having problems starting it, it seems to take ages to fire up, it might turn over about 10 times before it finally starts. You can feel the engine trying to catch before it'll finally splutter into life. When it does start, it seems to struggle to idle, barely ticking over at abuut 500rpm. Sometimes, when you touch the throttle the engine will either die, or rev up normally. It will idle sweet after you give the engine a few blips and gently bring it to idle. This isn't just a cold issue, the engine behaves exactly the same when hot.
I tried to take it on a test drive and it cut out when I tried to move off. Took me over 15 minutes before I managed to start it back up. This happened twice. It just doesn't want to catch. Sometimes it'd start, run at a couple hundred rpm for 20 seconds and then die.
I thought it may have been the crankshaft sensor to fitted a new one but it's still the same. The engine management light is not on.
Anyone have any ideas?
Another question I have is about the sparkplugs on an early alloys CF1 engine. On the coil pack cover and the coilpacks themselves, the order is:
big - small ---- big - small ---- small - big ---- small - big
on my head the plugs are fitted like this...
big - small ---- big - small ---- big - small ---- big - small
If thats wrong, it could explain my issues.
