(Another) 'Weird' GTV clutch issue
Hi Folks, new to the GTV, but not cars or modding (I'll post my introduction shortly); anyhoo...
I parked up my 97 2.0 TS at a mates whilst I went of to Fiji for 3 weeks; he moved it once whilst I was away, and it was parked on a slight (nose-up) slope.
I come back, go to move the car...and the clutch pedal went down but not back!
OK, check fluid in reservoir-ok (perhaps a little low...and find the wires have corroded at the level switch- great!). Suspect clutch slave cylinder (prev. experience on other cars points me there next), so 'borrow' one to replace it...
As it turns out, the workshop who lent me the replacement have lent me..you guessed it, the wrong one! Not wanting to give up entirely (this was yesterday [Saturday] avo, so no-where else open by now), I thought I'd at least try to bleed some fluid thru, see what happens.
After bleeding out the BLACKEST brake fluid I've seen in a long time, good fluid shows thru...and I have a working clutch pedal again...
Went for an extended test drive, checked levels, looked for leaks...no issues.
So, suspect fluid? Air lock?
Dunno; car is off to workshop on Tues for suspension, brakes etc work, I'll have them check it all out, but in the meantime I'll keep driving it and monitoring...but a change of fluid to fix? Weird with a capital WEE :-)
