GTV Overheating - 120 degrees!

My 2.0 TSpark in slow traffic heated up to about 120 degrees yesterday

It has a new thermostat fitted by my local Alfa Specialist a few months back because it was running too cool.

Also the fan is kicking in and works fine.

Having read the other posts i'm not sure whether I should just change the radiator?

The Alfa Specialist said it could do with changing at some point, but would this cause the drastic overheating??

It generally runs at just over 90 most of the time anyway - is this too hot??

With new thermostat fitted and if you're getting low and high speed fans I would consider:

1) Replacing radiator.
2) Give the system a complete flush at the same time, and replace with 50/50 solution using de-ionised water.
3) Faulty waterpump?

Certainly do first two but if symptoms persist investigate waterpump. The new stat could be stuck closed though - but this appears to be a rare event.

Either way don't leave it, you know what'll happen if you do.

One (new) on eBay for 85 + p&p at the moment. That's not a bad price.
