big end or not?
I bought a spider 97 2 liter TS a month ago.
I have a knocking/tapping sound in the engine.
I did the vairator, oil, flush change, while doing it the mechanic found the inlet camshaft badly worn on two points. I ve got it change.
The knocking/tappet sound was reduce by a bit when on idle, however still there. Under load clearly there as well.
I have a new set of hydraulic follower arriving soon for a replacement, will do a new oil flush and new oil.
After reading a lot on big end going, I am worry it is the case. But...
The oil warning light not showing up.
The engine is not using oil.
The engine run fine, no flat spot, no funny behavior.
No smoke, no over heating, nice acceleration.
I have check the exhaust manifold, I don't think it is cracked.
So if the big end is on his way out shouldn't the engine be giving some problem?
I will have the sump remove and the crank inspected while doing the follower.
I have driven a good 1500 km with this noise.
Last but not least, being base in Singapore it might be better to change the crank and shell rather than getting a new engine. Where can I find a new crank?
