Got the engine out eventually on Mon evening past, it did go down the way but on its toes so to speak, not a lot of room then. I should of taken the fan motor off and the aircon pump that would have helped.
I have removed the gearbox now and intend to swap the engine with a 2.0l from a 156 as the GTV one is knackered, hence all this work .I notice the driveshaft that passes along the back is very much thinner than the 156 one , does anyone know the reason for this, they seem to be the same length , I am just curious, as it will probably go back on anyway.
The only other difference seems to be the clutch pressure plate fingers. The centre diam for the thrust bearing is larger than than the GTV one but again thats not a problem (different slave system), I will renew the thrust bearing and change over the gtv plate to the 156 engine.
Does anyone know of any other differences that they might have come accross if they have done this change over.
