Well I had the tuning done last week. The difference is fairly subtle on the GTV, but mainly improves pickup below 3,000rpm. In all honesty I can't tell a great difference in the upper reaches of the rev range: the car screamed towards the redline in 1st to 3rd gears before, and it still does. I did 310 miles on just over 3/4 tank crusining at 90mph the other day. Sounds alright to me. I feel confident that I am getting a little more from my engine than before so I am happy.
On the 150hp diesel Laguna not surprisingly the difference is vast. The car will deliver torque much more easily from 1,300rpm whereas before it needed at least 1,500rpm. That may not sound much but allows you to pootle around in higher gears without constantly changing down. Consequenly fuel economy increase from c40mp to 46mpg. I worthwhile upgrade, but best of all the engine seems much smoother. I can't understand why Renault use such a conservative map to start with, unless they just want to give more headroom to the 180hp version.
