Having problems getting the PH2 GTV through its MOT. It's handbrake performance isn't up to scratch.
I've gave it all a good clean, wound in the pistons, fitted new pads, pumped the pistons out then adjusted the handbrake, but it still failed.
Not sure what the units are at the testing station (Kg?) but one side is about 90, the other 130. Rear footbrake registers 150 or so, which wasn't great either.
Since the retest, I've taken the discs off and cleaned them up as well. I've also fitted a handbrake return spring that was missing to the worse side. Need to take it for a run again to bed the pads in before I can pass judgement on the effectiveness of that exercise!
So, if it's still bad, I think it might be new discs required. However, I've noticed that the piston in the calliper on the '90' side is a lot easier to wind back than the other side...is that symptomatic of anything? I'm just wondering if it's returning too easily meaning that the handbrake has further to push the piston before the pads touch the disc.
Both callipers look quite new, and the cable doesn't appear to be jamming at all.
