While looking around my Spider today I found out two things about the large and ugly wipers:
- The wiper blade carriers (inscribed Alfa Romeo) are completely worn out. They even make a clanking noise when lifted/lowered onto the glass!
- The washer jet tubes are just poked through slots in the wiper - there aren't any jets.
Going through my collection of spare blade carriers, I found that nothing seemed to fit the larger-than-usual hook end on the Spider's arm.
For the jets I experimented with some aerosol can spray nozzles, which are the right size for the pipe to push on to. However, it was only a single jet rather than a spray (see pic) and I think it might be better to find something that sprays in the same direction as the pipe, rather than at 90 degrees. Such as, perhaps, a garden fixed irrigation spray nozzle.
Then I found this thread... seems I'm not the only one ever to have wiper/jet problems!
I guess I'll order some standard-looking blades from Wipex (the 'flat' blades with the curved lump might look a bit strange on a pre-2005 car like this) which come with the jets - the alternative is the AlfaWorkshop genuine blades (just as ugly as the originals) but they don't come with the jets. Maybe it is possible to remove the spoiler? Or, perhaps, I'll get some standard blades locally (much slimmer/no spoiler) and make up some jets.
