GTV engine temp sensor issue
Hi, My 2004 2 litre GTV has had the engine management light on for weeks now and has become very sore on petrol and the cooling fan stays on all the time. Initial diagnostic test indicated faulty engine temperature switch but this was replaced and the problem persists. Second diagnostics test gives the same fault reading and the ECU is reading an engine temperature reading of minus 40 which is the default reading if it does not receive a signal from the temperature sensor.
The thermostat has been replaced and the engine is definately not running cold with the dash temp guage sitting around 80.
The wiring was checked between the temperature sensor and ECU and found to have no apparent fault or open circuit.
I assume the ECU thinking that the engine is running cold will over compensate the fuel hence the recent hole in my pocket.
Has anyone had a similar issue or knows of a possible solution?? I would be most grateful for any suggestions. Cheers.
