Help Rear Brake Disks Smoke

Hi All

I have just replaced my rear brake disks, but having taken it out for a drive afterwards one side started to smoke, any ideas on what could be the problem?

Any help would be great

Is the wheel hot to touch?

It sounds like a sticky caliper or some issue with the handbrake not releasing the calipers.

Did you turn the brake cylinders of the calipers back in?

What they said. Sounds like they're binding. Did you replace the pads too and give the calipers and carriers a good clean, and copper grease the new pads?

Another possibility is that it's just burning off any protective coating the new discs may have had. Quite often they come very lightly oiled to prevent rusting, so the smoking may disappear once they're all bedded in.
