I finally got r9ound to doing this. It's different to the number above.

Mine says F 00C 2G2 044.

Anyone know of a cheap alternative?...

Crispdust - maf failure is often due to an aftermarket airbox/filter or - v common problem - TS filter instead of a V6. The TS is a few mm too short & aftermarket suppliers don't know there is a difference, but it kills the maf. Also any other leaks around the filter such as knackered screw holes. So check all that is ok to avoid recurrence.

Well done for sussing an alternative though. The old tried a similar campaign against Bosch but obviously to no avail ...
