Uphill starting..........

I parked the car on a fairly steep hill this morning, nose pointing up the hill, the car was also fairly low on fuel, about 1/8th of a tank.

When I came back to it I thought it wasnt going to start. It normaly starts first turn of the key.

After a bit of churning it started, the low level fuel light was on and the needle was on empty, within a minute of driving the needle was back on 1/8th full.

I stopped and filled her up, started first turn.

Is the uphill starting on a low tank a known issue or do I need t worry that it was just a coincidence?

Regards all

If it only happened the once I would not worry about it. Some say that you should never let the fuel level drop that low in a vehicle anyway, any crud floating about in the bottom of the tank may well be drawn into the fuel lines. I don't know how true that is really, the car does have a fuel filter to catch stuff like that but even so, I tend not to go below the quarter mark before filling up.

Its due to where the pipe is in the tank that takes the fuel, you were prob just at the wrong angle to it to be partly sucking air. Some people have had to put fuel in the car to get it going. Not a problem, just one of those things.
