Boy, do I know how you feel!!!
You have to get in the right mindset. I see it like I'm restoring a classic!
I bought a GTV for £2k - within 2 days it was undrivable! The idles sensor made revs yo-yo and stall.
Then with hours the MAF needed replacing.
When I took it to the garage - it should have been about £300+ in parts (MAF and sensor!), but I sourced used parts.
Then the garage said that the camshaft gasket was leaking and needed replacing - and it had stuffed up the spark plugs. Puff goes another £100 quid.
The month wasn't out when a new knock meant I discovered I needed new front wishbones. Fortunately £38 quid each and a day off hard work - so not too bad.
Whilst I was under there I discovered the sump was leaking - so another couple of hours drenched in degreaser - and a drain of oil, new gasket and fixed.
The gearbox still is slightly leaking - and water is coming from somewhere.
Then - still in the same month the alarm broke!
Like you I then picked up a window screen issue - not a crack - but a very annoying chip right in the line of sight!!
Hopefully will be changing the rear bushes tomorrow.
One thing I do know - without this forum, the kindness of those that advise and answer questions, used suppliers like autolusso - I WOULD NOT be able to own this beautiful classic!
Keep your chin up, look at all those ford focus, astra drivers - non of them turn around when they walk away from their cars just to admire the beautiful curves. Non of them rev their engines just a notch more than they need to just so they can hear the beautiful tone. I think they are worth it. But we all have to work hard - and stay in the right mindset.
