The problem is the Gauge, i had my alfa specialist check it out, and the examiner diagnostic was reading correctly and the temp didn't match up to the gauge, the temp stayed around 87degrees (Gauge showing 70) on a run and then in traffic it will come up into the 90's and then the fan would trigger, it constantly did this with the examiner plugged in.
The needle was varying so much, when temp decreased say by 3 degrees then the needle moved by over 10 degrees. The centre console was removed put another second hand water temp gauge and was now showing 65 on a run, tried another second hand one and it was showing 75ish on a run, gauge is an issue.
So, finally the orginal temp gauge was rectified my moving the needle just a touch, and it looks normal doesnt fluctuate so much maybe because there are less markers on the gauge as it goes up or something to do with the tension of the spring, either way it looks perfect now and corresponds to actually what is going on.
