Things are moving along slowly. I'm dependant on my friend to help me with the rebuild, so it's been on hold for a while.
Heads are now off and we're getting ready to put on the new headgaskets.
HOWEVER....I've currently sheared 3 bolts on the blocks.
One is on the front exhaust manifold (manageable I think, I could get the workshop to drill it out when they machine the head), but the other two sheared when I tried to get the waterpump off...
Now these are tiny (why so tiny?) screws, very hard to get to (engine is still in bay). Care to lend some advice as to how to get them out?
They sheared off with absolutely minimal force. I think it has to do with putting steel screws in an aluminium block, but I'm not sure. They didn't seem to have any grease/coating either.
If I manage to get them out, should I coat the new screws with anything special?
I'll post up some pics of the mayhem later.
