I have commented a few times on el hoods, but I cannot tell you where these comments are - forum only registers posts I have started.
99 % of minor faults clear with the manual up and down. The system is very old and very reliable, put your trust in it.
My dealer changed the sensor between the hood frames ( need to come back on that - my notes are at home ) - but I was suspicious that he wasn´t really sure, about it -- said it was a very sensitive adjustment.
I had similar problems - in the end it was the manual release mechanism on the infamous hood motor.
I was just going to do a major electrical check and had realeased the two wire cables from the motor in preparation. Then to show a helpfull neighbour my problem I re- connected them and heard a loud click - it was the manual mechanism - it must have been askew - and suddenly put itself right.
During this period I had released these cables to track the fault - so it may have been me that caused it to skew. There is an simple tensioning device on the business end of the cables - you can put it in different notches to change the tension.
I need to look at my notes again
