Alarm / Engine light

I have posted a thread for my immobiliser problems and thanks for the response. Did what was suggested and took it out for a spin. The car died and cut out after about 10 mins . Now the engine/transimission light flickers on the dash and the red light on the temp gauge and a tapping can be heard. any suggestions other than a can of petrol and a match!!!

Had a quick look at your other thread.

Could be a couple of issues here.

Possible loose connection to the 'code' box which lives next to the fuse box (depending on year) I get intermittent immob problems where the code light stays on, a sharp tap to the fuse box cover cures it.

Crankshaft sensor could be the reason the car is cutting out when warm, this should cause an engine warning light.

Where abouts are you?

Thanks for replying, I am in Somerset in Cheddar. A bit far from you. Anybody recommend a good auto electrician around here if I cannot fix it?
