You can get some idea of cambelt costs by searching online for specialists such as autolusso, jamie porter and veloces and of course searching through this website.

If you're after a red one there's a member on here in Reading advertising one in the classifieds section, but I don't know whether they had the electrical problems mentioned on previous threads fixed.

Keep an eye on that green one on eBay ending around noon tomorrow to get some idea of prices?

Personally i quite like the look of that car. If the body is in good nick and the interior looks good from the pic id be tempted to offer 1000 then push the car all the way to the nearest alfa indie. Cambelt service costs about 400-500 without variator but at least by getting it done yourself you know its done properly

I agree with Oliver - providing that the belts are done before you use it, it should be fine. It's not that far over the belt due change date But offer low - 1000 max (I'd try for less than that, but then I'm a cheeky ***** )

thank you so much for all your replys i'm quite new to all this and i'm finding this GTV hunting a bit daunting.

in my head i had 900 pounds as what i want to pay for it ive had a look at the green one on ebay aswell i see it hasnt even reached its reserve yet which is odd cos it looks a nice example with all the inportant work carried out fairly recently.

i sometimes wish i had the time and inclination to use ebay but i think its just one step to far in buying something of this nature for me.

GTV's in Green often sell for less than other colours, as not so many people like the colour.

It was the same with Fiat Coupe's, Dark green ones are more difficult to sell than Blue, Red and yellow.

916 Spider

I bought my Spider when it was well overdue it's belt change, by about 4 years and 20k miles! apart from that it was perfect - as long as the belts have not gone yet being overdue a change is not a reason not to buy! Just get them done as soon as possible after purchase.

I drove it from London back to Ireland and then had it in with my mechanic the next day!
