Thought id just post my findings of my replacement exhaust from Cat back, that i got all for £144. I was dubious about buying it, as i have had cheap exhausts before that werent up to much. But as i had only bought the car a week before, money was a factor.
So, i began by buying the 2 relevent parts of the exhaust system, both from Ebay
Middle Section http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
And rear section http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
The next day, the exhaust arrived, and to my surprise was supplied with both sealing rings. The exhaust did look a bit dented up here and there, and the tip wasnt exactly mark free to say the least, but it looked well made none the less.
Here's the new exhaust unwrapped http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/t...Newexhaust.jpg
So i the next day i got the car on the ramps and removed the old rusty exhaust. http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/t...xhausthole.jpg
Took a bit of time and lots of WD40 on the clamp bolts, but got there in the end. The new exhaust appeared to match up well too. http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/t...stmatch-up.jpg
So i set about putting the new middle section on, using the original bolts and new M8 nuts and copper grease, and a new sealing ring. Then put the new rear section on and bolted the 2 new sections together using M10 nuts & bolts with some copper grease, and another new sealing ring. I then made one last check all was tight, and took the car off the ramps and checked for leaks. Didnt get a single weep, so must be quite a good fit.
However, on the rear section, the pipe that goes under the rear beam, the pipe does not have an aggressive enough bend/indentation in the pipe, so sits no more than 5-10mm of the beam, so you can imagine what would happen over every bump. So to get over this, i got some Fire/burn proof mat, wrapped it around the section in question and clamped it to the exhaust, and i havent heard a peep from it http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/t...ustbanding.jpg
With regards to the sound, it sounds exactly the same as the original one, so no problems there. So if your looking for a cat back exhaust system for under £150, id say you cant go far wrong with these.
