I've been a regular at an event called VMax for the last few years.
It's an event that is ran at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire and the object is to see what speed your car can achieve over 1.6 miles. The total length of each run is about 2.5 miles, but this includes a half mile ish start straight followed by a 90deg bend then onto the 1.6 mile straight.
At the next event an array of cars will be there including a Ferrari 599, an Aston Martin Rapide, various Porsche's, a "classic" Lotus Carlton, a RUF CTR3, David Yu in his purple Nissan GTR (Evo Mag), but the showstopper is an 1120bhp 9ff
which has the potential to hit 220mph+
I like to compete, but I also like to go just for the thrill of seeing all of the other cars there and it's not just the expensive exotica that draws admiration. An MRC tuned B5 Audi S4 hit 200mph at the last event which was amazing. I had a passenger ride in a Lambo Murcielago which hit 193mph as we crossed the line
My diesel 335d always put up a good show and hit 167mph.
Anyway, I had no intention of taking the Alfa, but after getting an invite and speaking with the organiser I couldn't resist (it's good to have some calssics there you see
), if anything it'll be an ideal photo opportunity. I may give the GTV a couple of blasts to see what it'll do and checking back through VMax history there has only been one GTV V6 run there before and he hit 142mph.....so that'll be my target.
I'll post up some pics after the event and let you know how I get on.
Here's the link with some of the runners on (not all)
