Another comment after the event.
I need to stop worrying about the radiator. All this began, one fine summer day with the hood down.
I suddenly noticed the small red diode water temperature light was lit. Gosh I thought, how long has that been lit ? One minute, ten minutes. I was panik stricken ( see my tip below ).I think I got away with it. After that I kept losing water so was worried something had gone in the engine.
I checked where I might be losing water, everything seemed to be OK. Just about to give up - been running a warm up test in the garage pit - my neighbour turned off the engine whilst I carried on looking - suddenly drops of water on my head. Radiator, thank goodness.
Since the change and the problem with the plug I feel I want to do more - it is extremely difficult with the hood down to see that little diode - it needs to be a buzzer - or a new engine - not a big choice really. So I am wondering if I can parallel connect a little buzzer to the temp sensor - anyone had a go at this ?
Then yesterday, I thought, I can change over the instruments - water with fuel - that would bring it almost into my line of vision. Again anyone have any tips at getting at these instruments ?
Which brings me to my tip - if you see the temp gauge going up - switch on air conditioning and fan to full, should keep it below 90 for a while, as long as it is not a hose gone.
