Apologies for the delay in responding but I have been travelling. (Not in the Alfa!)
Yes I meant Autolusso, thanks for the recommendation I have swaped some e-mails with them and trying to understand what the options are before I blow a good chunk of my savings on my little Princess. No matter which way I end up going I think these guys will be receiving my money as the communication and flexibility they have shown me is excellent.
MSGTV : I agree that these engines last for miles but there also appears to be a good number of people who experience high oil consumption, including me ;o((((
In my fairly basic understanding, oil consumption can only mean that oil is either gettingpast the Piston Rings or past the valguide oil seals in order to get burnt. I have also read that the tolerences used on the rings is a little random so probally this. also I live and work in Germany and use the alfa when back in the UK so it "might" be possible that standing for periods of up to two months at a time the oil seals on the valve guides may have hardened?
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to check this?
I intend to do a compression test but this will only give me a view of the seal of the piston rings not necessatrily the oil control rings.
If anyone has any other recommendations I am all ears ,o)
