GTV 2.0TS is a great car for high speed cruising and the handling is perfect. However that engine, (and even the 3.0 V6 of the same generation), lacks low rev torque, it just doesn't pull hard til 4000 revs, hence being ace on the motorway but not in town.
Much as they have been overlooked (due to soft suspension and the distracting peak torque of the 2.4 turbo diesel), the 2.2 and 3.2 JTS have much, much more low end torque than the 2.0TS and 3.0V6. Comparing graphs with a 3.0V6 owner, my modded 2.2 JTS actually puts out considerably more torque at low revs than the 3.0V6, and the peak torque is the same.
How does that help you... well maybe it doesn't right now, but if and when you choose to upgrade to the new gen cars you're going to get a nice wallop of low down torque to see off the competition.
