MAF and Idle control valve - kaput together.

Got my new GTV (99 2.0) and the idle was a bit erratic. Now and again would go high - or just dip low (but not stall). The car seemed fine higher up the rev range.

Booked into garage - then on the very very cold morning of taking it to the garage - I could hardly drive it. Stalled all the way there.

It was like "Herbie" - not wanting to go to the garage!

Anyway, seems like I need a new MAF and a new idle control valve. Almost 300 in new parts! oooch.

I'm going to try some used parts from AlfaLusso - just hope this doesn't turn out to be a waste of time?

I was hoping it would be the MAF - or the idle control valve - not both?

i took mine in with the same symptoms and they replaced the lambda though that hasn't fixed it. A new MAF will cost you 107 and is easy to fit yourself but i'm going to try cleaning mine first.

The maf will make the car idle incorrect, as it is not givein the car the correct fueling

change the maf first then see if it idles better

take it the car idles better when engine is hot?

Really it should be diagnosed first?

Hi i would change the crank-sensor (or TDC sensor) first if this is braking up then it would send the wrong infomation to the ecu causing the car to not start! start and run poor! or even when running will not accelerate propperly.

also i work as a telephone parts advisor, if you require parts cheap drop us a email with your reg and i will see what i can do for you.
