Gtv 3.0 v6(2000/w) fuel filler flap

Can anyone help?!!! I filled up today and the fuel flap opened as normal so I filled up and went to shut it and the little catch is stuck in so therefore the flap wont click shut. I searched for threads but only found one about the string to release the catch in the boot, this doesnt help me though as the catch is stuck in and wont move!! If anyone can help that would be great! Thanks

i think the release mechanism is behind the carpet panel in the boot where the string goes to. if you can get access behind this carpet panel, you may be able to give it a tap to release it. there is a thread on here somwhere about it, something to do with a little black plastic pin i think, but i can't for the life of me remember where it is, sorry. failing that, in the short term until it is resolved, how about a folded piece of paper wedged in to keep it shut? hardly fashionable, but practical?

My short term solution so far is Ive taken out the spring that forces the flap open and just used a bit of insulation tape to keep the flap shut.I read about solonoids but this stuff is way over my head,im not technically minded wot so ever!!! Ive sprayed WD in the black pin but no luck so far!:-(
