it took me (relatively competent spanner monkey) and a friend of mine (slightly more competent spanner monkey) around 16 hours spread out over 2 days
it wasnt really much different to any other straight forward clutch change, although we did run into some problems along the way. i can see why bigger garages/companies would take the engine and box out together. it would appear easier that way. its not much more difficult to leave the engine in place and just remove the box. granted, its a lot more fiddly trying to wriggle the box out over the wishbone and under the inner wing
having done this now, i can say if you are doing it yourself and dont want to remove the engine/pay someone else to do it, dismantle your passenger side suspension set up. it will make removing and refitting the box a hell of a lot easier and stress free!!
