Thought I would ask a question on this thread as opposed to starting a new one.
I've been reading different posts about alloys for weeks now as I am planning to upgrade my 16" selespeed alloys to something bigger/wider due to the the GTV arches seeming so massive, I also thought the track was not wide enough.
I bought the car with the current selespeed wheels fitted about a year ago and it has taken until tonight for the penny to drop that they should have had spacers fitted - to account for the increased offset - no wonder it looked narrow!!
Thank you for the info on this thread!
A few questions please:
If I keep the 16" selespeed alloys what would be the correct (and maximum!) spacer size I could fit to the front and back wheels? - I think the difference is about 11mm...
Does it matter what make of hubcentric spacers I get?
Last one - If I run the front & rear wheels with different size spacers then I presume the track will be different from front to rear - is this a problem? Is the handling affected?
I am also wondering if this has anything to do with the crazy knocking noise from the right rear when I turn left sharply under power - having just powerflexed the back end and changed wheel bearings etc I am running out of ideas on that one (that's for info BTW! there is a separate thread running on that one!
