I came, I saw... and 90% of you will be happy to know I didn't buy
Have to say it's very hard to judge a car fully in a lit car park, daylight would have been so much better.
The car is in the exact
colour combo and spec I want: body and interior-wise there's not a mark on it, though the rear view mirror is cracked and that auto-dimming mirror won't be cheap. I know it's had some bodywork (done by a main dealer) and that always puts me off: but most 7yo old cars will have probably had a repair, and the repair does looks perfect.
It's due a service which BMW want £900 for. That's without them finding anything extra that needs attention – though a specialist would get it done for half the dealers' prices. So the due service, cracked mirror, plus 2 wheels need refurbing means the seller will drop the price – by just £500 – which doesn't make sense.
Dare I say my car sounds better (due to my Ragazzon) throughout the rev range? And maybe the M3 is built so well that the acceleration didn't exactly feel faster than my V6
That was with him driving, not me, and if any further negotiation happens I'll go down and drive it myself properly and then get it inspected for peace of mind like I did with my GTV.
Also his SMG pump failed and then his clutch last year, so they're both new which almost makes this the
car to have as it shouldn't
happen again – for a while!
M3 owners debate a lot about whether manual or SMG is best. SMG cars are more desirable and go for more money, but that pump alone costs £3k
In this instance BMW paid for the part as a gesture of goodwill and he just
paid £650 for the labour
Right, hopefully off to Sheffield to see another on Saturday, though the guy I saw tonight knows his figures are all wrong and will be coming back to me.
