Have hand brake...will travel

Hi All

sorry for sounding thick but are the common problems to excessive hand brake travel, pads "look" fine?

Cable stretch? Has it always been like this or has it gotten worse over time?

GTV handbrakes are a bit rubbish, to be honest, and always seem to have a lot of travel compared to most other cars. As long as its not holding on when released, and actually stops the car from moving when applied, then thats fine. If it feels very loose at the start of its travel, it may just need adjusting.

there is an adjuster under the leaver, this is to take up the slack when cables stretch a bit.

but you know will happen soon, no matter how much u adjust it

I wish we could get a bit more info on this - it's a bit of a black art

Mine (just) works at the height of the travel, and no matter how much i fiddle with the adjuster, it seems to make no difference other than making the level more difficult to operate.

My level also has a bit of play, both vertically and horizontally, when at position 0 (bottom); once i elevate it, even to the first notch, the play dissapears.

Any ideas?
