GTV 2.0 Temperature woes.
Apologies in advance, folks, as I know there are a lot of posts about this, but from what I can see 99% of them relate to thermostats which have stuck open and I'm not sure this is the case here. Basically, the symptoms are:
- in SUMMER the car gets too hot (100C+), irrelevant whether it's in traffic, doing 70mph, etc, etc. The fan is almost constantly on, even on the motorway. Constantly wary of it overheating.
- in WINTER the car gets to 90C when at a standstill but on the motorway it barely gets off the minimum mark on the gauge (55C).
The fan works fine, cuts in at 90C, the radiator is relatively new, there is no loss of coolant, no indication of head gasket issues.
Now here is my theory: could it be that the 'stat is stuck HALF open?! Hence it won't cool properly in summer and won't heat up properly in winter? I haven't heard of this problem before.
As ever, all suggestions from the knowledgeable and patient Alfa bunch most appreciated!!
