Help Switched/unswitched live connections

I have a Ph 2 GTV and want to use a solar charger in the cigarette lighter socket, but it isn't live with the ignition off. The radio has a permanent live connection, which I don't want, so will it cause any problems if I swap the live leads over?? As you may have gathered, wiring is not one of my strong points, so any advice from someone who is would be well received. Thanks in advance.....

Should be ok. I've considered swapping them over on my 156, for similar reasons.

There was a thread in the 156 section a while back that you might be able to find. I think the gist was to put an in-line fuse on each one for added protection. Not sure if a size was recommended, but whatever's the next one up from the current draw you're expecting from the equipment I guess...
