P1 V6 GTV keycode light on wouldn't start
car started then died as I moved it.
Key code light on, starter motor engaged but wouldn't start. Tried master key, checked a few fuses and connections but still dead.
Then I noticed that the engine management/injector light wasn't on.
Looked in various handbooks, workshop manual disc but couldn't find the correct relay and fuse configurations anywhere. Phoned some Alfa people that I've dealt with and they all had different ideas.
Tried to communicate with a Solus diagnostics but wouldn't connect, dead.
Eventually after too many days checking Motronic ECU, Code box, relay's pin connections and fuses plus try another speedo cluster, staring at wiring diagrams that weren't quite right, I guessed on the the main relay on a grey base behind the driver's headlight, changed it and hey presto! Key code light went out, injector light came on and it started much to my relief as most of the Alfa dealers and specialists reckoned it was a key code fault and wanted the car transported to them.
Being a rare P1 V6 there aren't many correct wiring diagrams available so I thought that this might help save someone some time and money in the future.
Thanks to Glenn at GBR in Alcester nr Bidford Upon Avon for helping sort this with me.
