I have never really understood why GTV owners talk down the values of there cars
So true: I've never come across another car enthusiasts' forum like this one that seems to actively lower the value of their own cars
Most forums/car clubs protect the value of their cars, to the point where the cars advertised directly on forum/club can be the most expensive around as they may well offer the most cherished and best examples available, or the owners have loved them so much they value them higher than average. But on here you'll find the cheapest of examples.
I've never understood a current GTV/Spider owner telling a prospective new owner on here that they should hammer the price of a GTV down for this or that reason, or that they got their one for peanuts etc. I've seen many posts from new owners showing their new 916 and proudly stating how much they bought it for, then either posting about serious engine problems or disappearing so quickly I assume they got rid as it was a lemon. There are even some posts on here that advise knocking down the price of a GTV if it hasn't been modified with a Q2...
Regardless of what you paid for your 916 if the main forum in this country talks down its value then there's a huge chance you're going to lose more money on it than you would have done otherwise. I never saw the point in advising a total stranger
to hammer down a price so he gets a good deal so you and any 916-owning friends of yours lose more £££ on your car. Whose financial welfare do I care for more, me and any Alfa-owning friends of mine, or a complete stranger? It's a total no-brainer for me.
We didn't buy these cars as financial investments but I don't want to lose more money on a car than can be helped, who would? Like I said, I've never seen a forum drive down the value of their own cars as much as this one, and it would be good if that trend could end.
