Diagnostic Plug - where? Which? AAAGH!
It was all going so well! Phase 1 GTV Red - lovely drive until..... the tickover went haywire.
It would tick over at 400 revs and go up and down up and down - on the point of stall and then back to 400 - rough as hell. Performance however was fine - revved clean but dead jerky as if the engine was trying to stall on the overrun.
Hmm! Disconnected the MAF - no difference
Cleaned the MAF - no difference
Changed the Idle Control valve - no difference.
Cleaned the throttle butterfly - no difference
Checked the inlet hose - no holes - no difference
Frustrated - bought diagnostic tool off Amazon
Can't find a 16 pin plughole anywhere
Found a 2 pin one behind the radio.
So, is there actually a 16 pin plug on a 2.0TS Phase 1? If there is - where the hell is it and if not where do I get the adaptor for a 2 pin.
Also - are there any other places that I can check/look at/strike with a hammer that may be causing this vile problem.
I'm not giving up
You are the guys who know these things - any help is mightily appreciated
