The general concensus is that the TS Spider handles better than the V6 Spider, due to the lighter engine up front. This is more apparent in the Spider than the GTV because of the inherent lower level of rigidity in the chassis.
The TS sounds great roof up or down, but the V6 obviously sounds better and goes better if absolute out and out straight line speed is your thing.
For me, there is more than enough performance in the TS to exploit the (lets be honest, slightly compromised but fun) capabilities of the Spider chassis. Don't interpret this as meaning that the Spider handles badly, it is very good in its own right. (You might also take a look at Gooman's vid going round the track at Bedford on Saturday at the Alfa track day.)
A GTV will handle better - but you might still be underwhelmed handling-wise if a Puma is your other transport.
Re. the Spider roof- there is a manual mode should the automatic happen to fail.
Also see PM that I have sent to you.
