Just wanted to update those on the GTV/Spider Forum about the great day had by all yesterday at the AO club trackday ay Bedford Autodrome.
A great selection of Alfa turned out - from GTAs and GTV 3.0 V6's down to my lowly Spider 2.0TS. Ned & his team from Autolusso were on hand for technical support.
There were (I think) about 35 Alfas and around 20 other cars (Porsche GT3s, Boxters, BMW M3s, a Ferrari, a Golf GTI, a Pug206 and a supercharged old-school MR2).
Despite my car being unmodded (apart from a powerflexed rear) and only a 2.0TS, I don't think I put in too shabby a show ... kept up with most stuff in the corners, and passed the Golf GTI, Pug206 and MR2.
More importantly though, I found out what my car's capable of when put to the limit. Apart from the standard road pads (see below) it's more than happy being put to the limit. The engine sang and pulled beautifully between 5500 and 7000 rpm, the standard suspension handled the sudden changes of angle in the chicanes, the cooling system coped with 20 mins of full throttle, and I had a fantastic time!
You can see my pics from the official photographer here
(including me lifting the inside rear wheel several times!) and an in-car video from my cameraphone here
If your car is in reasonable mechanical nick (no major suspension knocks, no cooling problems, cam belt changes to schedule), then next time we do this - go for it!
