Gtv starting problems

Basically my ph1 v6 gtv wont start most of the time. This all started to happen after I recently changed the battery, everything was ok before.

Now when i try to start the car I hear one click from under the bonnet. From the under the speaker area on the parcel shelf behind the passenger seat I hear a low pitched hum/whining noise for a second then it clicks and stops.

Sometimes when i try to start the engine all the lights on the dash flicker and i can hear a fast clicking noise from the under the speaker area. Every now and again the car will start and the new battery sounds strong but most of the time it just won't start. It goes fine if jump started or if I disconnect the battery for a couple of hours I can start the car then leave it and start again with no problems for a while but then the next day it won't start again! Anyone have any ideas? thanks

Hi matey, i shall go out on a limb and suggest the fuel pump, have you un-done all the panels in the boot and checked your battery and all the connections??

Good luck with it

First port of call, since you have changed the battery - check both battery terminals and leads are corrosion free, clean and tight. I know it's a stupid question to ask but is the battery the correct type for car. I have noticed that your have "jumped" started the car, this can cause problems with the engine ECU, (voltage spikes) with the ignition on when connecting the leads, I know this from a previous experience. I had to reset the engine ECU. Basically I followed the following instructions ECU Reset Procedure

Pretty sure I have the correct battery, this is the same type here -

Thanks for the battery suggestions hopefully that should do the trick. Will have a check on those first this weekend before anything else and report back!

I would have said a loose battery connection as well.

I have done it myself.
