Help desperately needed!! Key problems!!
Hoping someone may be kind enough to offer some desperately needed advice/help....
I live in Somerset. 12 months ago I bought a 3L 24v Spider from a dealer (Budgens in Shropshire). It's a 2002 model.
Anyway, when I got home I realised (stupidly - too late!!) that they hadn't given me a spare key. I had just the one ignition key.
E-mailed, spoke to them etc.. They promised to chase it up for me etc - but didn't get back to me. I meant to sort it all out of course.... But the position I'm now in is :
1/The keys are locked in the boot.
2/The fail-safe button in the glove compartment which is supposed to open the boot isn't working. You can hear the relay clicking, but it isn't opening the lock.
3/Phoned the dealers. Gave them the chassis number so they can get me the key code. They rang me back and told me that because the car is an "import" (I had no knowledge of this) they are unable to get the key number from Alfa. Told me there was nothing they could do to help me.
Is there any way at all I can go about getting a spare key which will operate the ignition?
Hopefully I'll find a locksmith who can open the boot - but looking beyonf that, if I can't get hold of a spare key, then sooner or later I'm in trouble.
Yes, I know I'm a numpty - but I am where I am.... Any help or advice would be gratefully (almost tearfully!!) received.
