Thanks guys !
By a strange coincidence I have just had mine off today to try and adjust the window. It was a royal pain. ( Note to self, don't do this again ! )
Was a simple job in theory, just height adjustment.......... Any way this didn't really work so started adjusting all the Reg Bolts and angle adjusters, took hours, all trial and error. The result is an improvement but still not 100%, the Window still wants to go a touch higher than it should.
Having cursed a lot and then stood back to mull things over I think that a major problem is the little rubber triangular seal that fits behind the mirror is shot, the gap that the window slides into is at least twice as wide as the passenger one and the very bottom of it is no longer even there, this lets the glass wander around at will and causes the window to move too far to the outside and so affects where it actually stops. I'm hoping that fitting a new seal here will cure most of the remaining problems and just a few tweaks on the angle adjusters will complete the job. I live in hope.............
Refitting the card was worse than usual as a captive nut, the one behind the internal handle refused to stay in place, took three attempts to get it to behave. Then of course there was the Bowden cable location, every time I refitted the card after glaring at the captive nut the locks were jammed, this was solved by lifting the card off the rear bobbins and then forcing an arm up inside the card to wiggle the cable. ( Anyone got any spare skin ? ) You can tell when it's right when the internal handle moves a bit with a nice satisfying click. Now CHECK EVERYTHING works before putting all the screws back in, if you don't, tears will follow.
Handy tip. To help getting the card located screw some neoprene tubing to the internal lock button and poke it through the hole in the card, this makes one less variable when trying to refit the card.
To the OP, removing the card is fairly self evident, as is replacing the Reg, it's the adjustments that may be required afterwards that are a pain, as is refitting the card, an extra pair of hands is very useful. If you are lucky............. Look on The Alfa Workshop site for basic instructions, I'll put the Link up in a minute.
The problem with not working at all is often down to the motor itself but not necessarily. Check the motor by applying 12 Volts directly to it before scratching head. If it is the motor than a complete new Reg assy will be required, I used one from a scrapper.
Leave yourself plenty of time for the job, I estimated two hours for today, took five.....
