GTV / 156 switch
It really pains me to loose my GTV
as I enjoy driving it far too much but unfortunately our daliy transport/shopping trolly (Daewoo Le'crap'anza) has seized the engine so for now I am oing to get back into the 164 on a daily basis and the wife will get the GTV. For obvious reasons (two boys 9 and 5) the GTV is not an ideal school runner for a familly of four so I am being forced into doing a straight swap for a 156 (could have been a 166 2.5 but we need to keep running costs down). My GTV is a 1.8 TS and the 156 in question is a 1.6 TS of similar vintage/mileage and has a few add ons: Koni/Novitec suspension (I get the original springs which I will most likely install); blue momo leather interior; momo mirror covers; various momo interior trim goodies and overall is in better shape than the GTV as it has had only one extremely fussy owner from new.
So, I have no choice but I have never driven a 156 1.6 ts (only a 147) and I'm wondering just how gutless it may be (144bhp/fat bum vs 120bhp/lighter bum). And how some of you with both models compare the driving experience. At the end of the day, the wife is the one who will be driving it untill we sort ourselves out and buy something newer but what are your thoughts?
