Changing the battery tomorrow, anything I need to be aware of?
After 5.5 years of solid use, I think it's time to change my battery before I get stuck somewhere. The last couple of winters has seen it only just start the car during the coldest periods, so I plan to change it before it dies.
For the GTV Costco have a Bosch S5 007 for £60 all in, though Halfords do an S5 008 for £110! Not sure what the difference is between the two but £110 for a battery sounds damn expensive.
Apart from removing the negative cable first when taking the old one out (and when fitting the new one fit the positive first, negative second), do I need to be aware of anything else? My stereo is being dumped this Friday so if it does need a code (which I doubt) I don't really care, but will the car's ECU forget its settings instantly when the battery is out? I'm presuming there's a 45 minute or so window to change the battery, but just thought I'd better ask in advance!
Any clarification welcomed!
