Agree with Limey really : GTA trumps in some areas, the GTV in others.
To try and shed some light - here are my thoughts. I have a 147 GTA and my G/F a GTV V6, I drive both regularly. Although my 147 is off being Q2'd atm.
GTV is a great drive and really still looks fabulous for its age, turns heads and tbf although the 3.0 is not quite as torquey or 'raw' as the GTA lump the performance in a straight line is not worlds apart. I had my 147 G-Teched to 60 in 5.89 seconds, the GTV clocks in with a 6.21. Not massive. The worst downside for me especially with a P1/P2 is the slightly dated interior, but let us be honest it is no pig, it is just not cutting edge Italian design anymore.
Main things I love about the GTA is its power, interior and overall great drive. It does not return the same MPG as the GTV (which seems frugal for a large V6), and its supercar lines, which a hatch like the 147 will never beat.
I have always said why did they not make the 'cup' a proper cup and rather than a few cosmetic add ons which can be done to any car put the 3.2 litre lump in for good measure. Now that would have been some car.
